This contents page from Q magazine caught my eye because again it matches with the front cover above. They are both simplistic but have an eye for detail. I like how the column is down the left hand side because it looks very organized which makes it look neat. The main image on this contents page also is eye catching because of the model credits as it is quiet big and it also shows the style of my genre which will attract maybe boys from my genre as it can be some sort of inspiration. It also includes cover lines of 'features', 'every month', and 'review'. Which i quiet like because it will be easy to understand and they really stand out from the contents page. I will apply this to my own contents page because it is quiet detailed but simple, and that is the sort of theme i am going for, as it will fit in with my genre of music.
This double page spread I have chosen, is quiet dull, and I would maybe choose different colours for my magazine to make it stand out more. However, I like the layout of this double page spread because one side is just an image so it focuses on one main artist and then the other side is detailed with quiet a bit of writing. I like how the writing changes shape, because it makes it stand out. The language used is very focused on the artist Adele. I can tell by the language used that is is for younger adults or older teenagers to read because it uses some inappropriate words that may not be suitable for young children. Also the writing is quiet formal in a way that some language is used can only be understood by people who have a good understanding of my chosen genre, but in a way, informal language is also used to show emotion in the text. I will use some of these ideas for my double page spread like the design and layout because it will link in with my magazine theme.
I was also attracted to this front cover because it is quiet colorful and organized. The main sell line will also be very eye catching to people who are interested in that genre of music which will attract that argot audience because it is a main topic that may be trending on the social media. Also it is in a small individual box and the font used makes it stand out behind the white background. I may use this idea for my magazine because it makes the front cover look tidy. Also there is some additional articles at the bottom of the page to show what will be inside of that magazine i think that is good so that the target audience will know what there reading but I don't like the idea of it being on the front cover as I want mine to look simple, and to still have some space.
This NME content page, I really like. One of the things that is very eye-catching is the layout and design. The masthead is repetitive in each of the NME magazine content pages. The column on the right hand side is very easy to understand because the main headlines are white against a black background and it makes it stand out. I will use this idea for my content page because it is very neat and tidy. There is also two main images on the left hand side to the middle which takes up quiet a bit of space. there is also a coupon/discount at the bottom of the page which may appeal to my target audience and it is like and extra freebie with the magazine. i think i will use this on my content page because it will look good against other magazines, and it might make my target audience just a little bit more satisfied with their purchase.
This double page spread about James Bay is very appealing to me because I like him as an artist. But again i also love the layout of this because it is simple but also has an eye for detail. The image is very focused on James Bay as an artist and everyone else in the image is blurred out so it can only focus on him. The main headline also stands out because it is the artists name and people of that genre may be attracted to it because its the type of music they like. The language used is also very formal in a way that the older fan base may understand as it uses a very formal sort of language. I like the font from the text and the headline because they go well together and it is easy to read. I will use these ideas for my own magazine so that i can make it look tidy and well put together.
This front cover again, was very eye catching to me because it has an artist on the front who I like. This will be the same for the genre of music target audience i have chose. I like how the image is quiet big and it is focused on only one person so it draws you in, and the eye-line match is very effective because it looks like he is just staring at you. The masthead is also similar to my other chosen front covers because it is white against a darker background, and i also like the font. I think it looks really nice and professional with the design of the front cover. At the very top of the magazine it has a feature that may appeal to the reader. It says 'free inside' in bold which will also draw a reader in. I may use a feature like this in my magazine because it makes your magazine look extra appealing. The main sell line is very appealing to people who may be into indie-pop because it is quiet humorous in a way that that type of genre will understand. It is trying to say that there needs to be more knowledge about acoustic music. The main sell line which is under the masthead is very bold and you can clearly see that is is the main article within the magazine. Also, along the right hand side is more cover lines. They inform the reader on what is incise of the magazine and they have made it look more interesting by making the headlines in a bigger text and then a small bit of text underneath them explaining what those articles are about. This is a good way of making your front cover more appealing without making it look too over crowded.
This contents page is also a double page spread. I don't think i will apply this idea to my magazine because i want my contents page to be just one page. But i do like how there are additional images on this one because it makes it more interesting to look at. i also like the layout because it is easy to follow and understand, because the columns aren't in a random place, they are on the sides, and they have used the images as the main focus point so that it can draw you in as a reader.
This double page spread really caught my eye. I love the layout and design of this one. The colours go really well together and i like how one side is taken up by an image, and one is the text. The languages used in the text again is very formal and only people who have an interest in that genre will understand and know what it means. This layout really gives an eye for detail because it is very informative and still nice to look at because the image is quiet colorful. The main cover line is simple because it is just the artists name, yet it links in really well with the layout and design of this double page spread. this is because it is very simple and spacious, so it is easy to understand and see. applying this design and layout to my own double page spread would fit in really well with my theme and genre of the magazine i have chosen.
