So from there, I needed to do some more research into my target audience in order for me to progress on and develop my skills further. So in this post I am going to be doing a brief readers profile which I will use as part of my research. If I weren't doing research into my target audience, I wouldn't know where to start. I wouldn't know their interests, bobbie etc so this post is important for me to include content in my magazine that will appeal to my chosen target audience.
The age range for my genre of music I would say varies from the ages 15-30's because there are a wide range of artists in the indie-pop genre such as Ed Sheeran, Kodaline, Lorde, The 1975 and James Bay. These type of artists will appeal to both male and female. More and more people are becoming intrigued by this genre of music because more of it is coming into the charts, best selling categories and people are sharing this type of music more on the social media. The target audience of indie is very individual, whereas pop music is very known off and grouped (bands). When they go together to create my chosen genre (indie-pop) it creates an unusual sort of music. The artists tend to be at music festivals such as 'T in the park' and 'Glastonbury' which are well know. This genre of music is quiet relaxing and slow, and it shows passion from an artists which i like (hence why i chose it). The target audience may fit into a group where they are into slower music.
Age: 17
What bands she likes: The weekend, Ed Sheeran
Dislikes: reggae and R&B
Favourite song: The weekend - the hills

Age: 16
What band/artist she likes: Ed sheeran, Kodaline, The 1975
Dislikes: cheesy/love songs
Favourite song: Kodaline - High hopes and All I want
So typically, my readers profile lets me know what sort of music and artists are liked by my target audience and the age range. I know i haven't had time to ask a lot of people but I now have an idea on what sort of people are interested in Indie-pop music. Overall I think that i need to look into magazines such as NME and Q and look at readers profile from those magazines and i can then use that information as part of my research in the future.
