Magazine conventions (front cover)

Magazine conventions 

On this particular magazine, the masthead is along the top of the magazine and is quiet bold. It also has colors in the holes of the words which make it more effective. I will apply this to my magazine because it is an individual idea and looks attractive. it is also a bright color used on a darker background which makes it stand out.

The main image is very eye-catching because the way the eyes are situated make them look piercing. The eyeline match is very good in a way that it will engage the reader. I think this is a good idea because it makes the magazine look attractive. The image of Miley is quiet serious which links in with the subheading because it says 'The queen of teen grows up', and she is holding up a big prop of an 'M'.

The main cover line is an artists name, and beneath is is a small bold subheading. So this magazine has used a name to draw the reader in, and this main cover line will link in with the main article inside. I may apply this sort of main headline to my magazine because it may draw in a particular fan base. The font of the main cover line is quiet bold and eye-catching because it is a bright colour in front of a dark background.

The cover lines are quiet small so that it won't stand out from the main cover line.The subheadings of each cover line are yellow (so bright) against darker background. So it is quiet colorful, but in pastel colours. I will apply this to my magazine because i like the colours and how it stands out.

The barcode is situated in the bottom right corner so that it is out of the way. Also, the barcode is in a place with not much writing etc so that it is easy to see when you are buying it. The price may also be with the barcode. I will use this idea on my magazine because it makes it easy to see.

The issue number and date will be either under the masthead or above the barcode so that it is just small and simple but will also be visible. I again, will use this idea because it will create more space on my front cover so that it is not overcrowded, and it will make my front cover look very organized.

This piece of work wasn't done by me, it was given for revision material, but i feel like i can include it in my magazine conventions as it gives a lot of information that will benefit me. It splits everything up into parts which makes it easier to revise and look at. This will help me when i include different features to my front cover.
